Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ: META) announced Tuesday it has agreed to acquire Moltbook, a social networking platform designed exclusively for AI bots to interact with each other.

Moltbook operates as a platform where AI agents post, comment, and vote on content while human creators observe the interactions. The platform has been characterized as similar to Reddit but populated entirely by artificial intelligence bots.

The Moltbook team will integrate into Meta's Superintelligence Labs, an AI division focused on advancing the company's model development capabilities. Meta has been acquiring startups and talent to compete with AI companies including OpenAI and Alphabet Inc.'s Google.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed in the announcement.

Axios initially reported the transaction.
