Skillz adds former Niantic CFO Jeff Shouger as board advisor

Mobile games platform Skillz Inc. (NYSE: SKLZ) announced that Jeff Shouger, former Chief Financial Officer of Niantic Inc., will serve as an advisor to its board of directors.
Shouger served as CFO at Niantic during the augmented reality company's $3.5 billion acquisition by Scopely. At Niantic, creator of Pokémon GO, he led capital raises totaling nearly $1 billion.
Before joining Niantic, Shouger held positions at Zynga as Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer, where he participated in the company's $1 billion initial public offering and supported more than 25 merger and acquisition transactions.
In his advisory role at Skillz, Shouger will provide guidance on capital markets strategy, financial discipline, operational scale, and long-term value creation, according to the company's press release.
"Jeff is a proven financial leader with a rare combination of public-company rigor, capital markets expertise, and deep experience in interactive entertainment," said Andrew Paradise, Chief Executive Officer of Skillz.
Shouger's career includes senior finance positions at data.ai, where he led a $50 million capital raise, and Proteolix, where he was part of the team that completed an $851 million sale to Onyx.
Skillz operates a mobile games platform that enables social competition and hosts tournaments for mobile players. The company went public and trades on the New York Stock Exchange.
