GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) announced that its Global Nuclear Fuel alliance has secured a contract extension with Entergy to supply fuel for the Grand Gulf and River Bend Station nuclear power plants through 2035.
The agreement extends the current fuel supply contract and includes four reloads of the new GNF4 fuel design. Global Nuclear Fuel, a GE Vernova-led alliance with Hitachi, Ltd., has provided fuel for these plants continuously since 2008.
Lead use assemblies of GNF4 will be loaded into River Bend in 2027, with GNF4 reloads scheduled for Grand Gulf in 2030 and River Bend in 2031. The fuel will be manufactured at GNF's Wilmington, North Carolina facility.
The GNF4 fuel design, introduced in October 2025, features Ziron cladding and aluminosilicate doped uranium dioxide pellets. Both components are licensed by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The Ziron cladding was developed to resist corrosion, while the pellets provide Accident Tolerant Fuel benefits.
"We look forward to bringing the economic and performance benefits of GNF4 to Entergy," said Craig Ranson, CEO of Global Nuclear Fuel and Installed Base CEO at GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy.
Entergy's Jack Davis, GM Nuclear Fuels & Integrated Risk Services, noted that the GNF4 product allows the company to achieve the same power levels with less uranium and less enrichment, resulting in cost savings for customers.
Global Nuclear Fuel provides various services including core and fuel cycle engineering, reload licensing, core management services, and fuel reliability assessments for nuclear power plants.
