Tesla’s (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 became the best-selling car in Europe last time, according to Bloomberg. Elon Musk’s company shipped 24,591 Model 3 cars to its customers in September, which marks a 58% growth compared to the last year.
This marks the first time an EV unit has outsold rival fuel-powered vehicles. Renault’s Clio and Volkswagen’s popular city car Golf were also ranking high in the list. One of the reasons behind Model 3 success in September was also the company’s “intensive end-of-quarter sales push,” research firm Jato Dynamics said in their report.
The report also added that full EVs or plug-in hybrid vehicles were accounting for 23% of the total market.
“The growing popularity of EVs is encouraging, but sales are not yet strong enough to offset the big declines seen across other segments,” Jato said.
