Tontine Partners

Tontine Partners is Greenwich based hedge fund managed by Jeffrey Gendell. The fund uses activist techniques by buying very large positions in companies that benefit from a macro-styled theme, and then work with or pressure management to improve shareholder returns. The fund was started in 1997 by Gendell and gained more than 100% in both 2003 and 2005.
