Forstmann, Little & Company is a private equity firm that specializes in leveraged buyouts (LBOs). The firm has made approximately 30 acquisitions and returned over $14 billion to investors. Successful acquisitions have included, Gulfstream Aerospace which was sold to General Dynamics, and General Instrument which was sold to Motorola.
Forstmann Little & Company has a long-term perspective and employs a more employee-friendly buyout atmosphere than some of its competitors.
The firm was founded in 1978 by brothers Ted and Nick Forstmann and Brian Little. Ted Forstmann is the chief partner due to the deaths of Brian Little and Nick Forstmann in 2000 and 2001, respectively.
