Woodward approves $1.8 billion share buyback program over three years

November 20, 2025 8:00 AM EST

Woodward Inc. (NASDAQ: WWD) announced its board of directors approved a new $1.8 billion share repurchase authorization spanning three years. The Fort Collins, Colorado-based company completed its previous $600 million authorization in November 2025, more than a year ahead of schedule.

"This new authorization reflects the Board's confidence in Woodward's long-term growth trajectory, robust cash generation, and our commitment to delivering compelling shareholder returns," said Chip Blankenship, chairman and chief executive officer.

Over the past decade, Woodward has returned approximately $2 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases, representing about 78% of net earnings during that period.

Chief Financial Officer Bill Lacey stated the company's capital allocation priorities are to reinvest in the business first, pursue strategic mergers and acquisitions second, and return cash to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases third.

The company may repurchase shares using various methods subject to market conditions and management discretion. The authorization does not require the company to acquire a specific dollar amount or number of shares and may be modified, suspended or discontinued at any time.

Woodward designs, manufactures and services energy conversion and control solutions for aerospace and industrial equipment markets. The company operates globally with headquarters in Fort Collins, Colorado.
