Vermilion Energy renews share buyback program, sets Q2 earnings date

Vermilion Energy Inc. (TSX: VET) (NYSE: VET) received approval from the Toronto Stock Exchange to renew its normal course issuer bid, allowing the company to repurchase up to 15,259,187 common shares over a 12-month period starting July 12, 2025.
The buyback program represents approximately 10% of Vermilion's public float as of June 30, 2025, and will expire no later than July 11, 2026. The company faces a daily purchase limit of 205,865 common shares on the TSX, though it may make one block purchase per week exceeding this restriction.
As of June 30, 2025, Vermilion had 154,018,623 common shares outstanding and a public float of 152,591,872 shares. Under its previous buyback program running from July 12, 2024, to July 11, 2025, the company repurchased 5,631,463 shares at a weighted average price of $12.96 per share, excluding brokerage fees.
The Calgary-based energy company stated it anticipates returning 40% of excess free cash flow to shareholders in 2025 through dividends and share repurchases. Vermilion noted it has distributed over $40 per share in dividends since 2003 and maintained an active buyback program since 2022.
Vermilion will establish an automatic purchase plan with its designated broker to enable share purchases during blackout periods when the company cannot trade due to material undisclosed information.
The company scheduled the release of its second quarter 2025 results for August 7, 2025, after market close, followed by a conference call and webcast on August 8, 2025, at 9:00 AM Mountain Time.
Vermilion operates as a natural gas producer with operations in Canada and Europe, focusing on liquids-rich natural gas development and conventional gas production while maintaining oil assets.
