Green Thumb Industries approves $50M share repurchase program
Green Thumb Industries Inc. (CSE: GTII) (OTCQX: GTBIF) announced that its board of directors authorized a continuation of its share repurchase program, making up to $50 million available for buybacks over the next 12 months.
The program, structured as a normal course issuer bid, will commence Sept. 23, 2026, and expire Sept. 22, 2027. Shares may be purchased on the Canadian Securities Exchange, the OTCQX Best Market, or alternative trading systems, subject to U.S. and Canadian securities regulations.
Under previous repurchase programs that began Sept. 5, 2023, the Chicago-based cannabis company repurchased the equivalent of approximately 29.5 million shares for $203.4 million.
"Since launching our first repurchase program in 2023, we have returned more than $200 million to shareholders through share buybacks, including more than $80 million in 2026," said Ben Kovler, Green Thumb's founder, chairman and CEO.
The company said it does not expect to incur debt to fund the program. Green Thumb is not obligated to purchase any shares, and the program may be suspended or terminated at any time at the company's discretion. All shares acquired will be returned to treasury and canceled.
