AutoZone authorizes additional $1.5 billion stock repurchase program

AutoZone Inc. (NYSE: AZO) announced that its board of directors authorized the repurchase of an additional $1.5 billion of the company's common stock as part of its ongoing share repurchase program.
The Memphis-based automotive parts retailer has now authorized $40.7 billion in share repurchases since the program began in 1998, according to a company statement released October 8.
"Our disciplined capital allocation approach gives us the ability to generate strong free cash flow, invest in growth, and increase our share buyback authorization while maintaining investment grade credit ratings," said Jamere Jackson, chief financial officer.
As of August 30, 2025, AutoZone operated 7,657 stores across the Americas, including 6,627 locations in the United States, 883 in Mexico, and 147 in Brazil. The company sells automotive replacement parts and accessories through its retail locations and online platforms.
