Alibaba May Seek to Re-Acquire Yahoo!'s (YHOO) Stake

Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) is trading higher pre-market Monday following reports of a possible Alibaba Group Holdings transaction.

Reports have Alibaba seeking financing to buy back Yahoo!'s 40 percent stake, which may be worth as much as $13 billion. Alibaba has been in talks with Temasek Holdings Pte out of Singapore on the deal.

Yahoo! paid $1 billion in 2005 for the stake in Alibaba.

Last week, reports surfaced that Alibaba, along with private equity firms Silver Lake and Digital Sky Technologies, may make a bid to acquire Yahoo! Shares saw positive buying action following the rumor.

Nothing has been released by Alibaba or Yahoo! yet in response to the chatter.

Yahoo! stock is 4.4 percent better early Monday.
