Wisconsin judge indicted on obstructing immigration case

(Reuters) -A Wisconsin judge who was arrested last month and accused of helping an undocumented immigrant in her court briefly evade immigration authorities was indicted by a federal grand jury on Tuesday on charges of concealing a person from arrest and obstruction of proceedings.
Hannah Dugan, a Milwaukee County circuit judge, was arrested on April 25, after prosecutors say she hindered the immigration agents who showed up to arrest the man without a judicial warrant outside her courtroom.
Prosecutors alleged Dugan tried to help Eduardo Flores-Ruiz evade arrest on April 18 by allowing him to exit through a jury door before his arrest outside the courthouse.
"As she said after her unnecessary arrest, Judge Dugan asserts her innocence and looks forward to being vindicated in court," Craig Mastantuono, one of Dugan's attorneys, said in a statement on Tuesday.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court temporarily relieved Dugan of her duties while her case proceeds.
