WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The White House urged every Republican in the House of Representatives and Senate on Monday to support President Donald Trump's sweeping tax bill, which won approval from a key congressional committee on Sunday.
"It is absolutely essential that Republicans unite" on supporting the bill, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said on Monday.
Trump held direct talks with House Speaker Mike Johnson over the weekend and will continue to be engaged with House and Senate leaders, Leavitt told reporters.
