German home building permits decline in May as sector struggles Jul 18, 2025 02:39AM

FRANKFURT (Reuters) -Building permits for apartments in Germany fell 5.3% in May from a year earlier, statistics office data showed on Friday, as the nation's troubled property industry continues to struggle.

The drop is a setback after some improvements earlier this year.

Indonesia still negotiating details, exemptions on U.S. tariff deal, official says Jul 18, 2025 02:38AM

JAKARTA (Reuters) -Indonesia is still negotiating the details of its recently-reached trade deal with the United States after the latter lowered tariff rates on the Southeast Asian country, and is pursuing exemptions for its exports of palm oil and nickel, an official said on Friday.

EU agrees 18th sanctions package against Russia Jul 18, 2025 02:34AM

BRUSSELS (Reuters) -The European Union reached an agreement on an 18th sanctions package against Russia over its war in Ukraine, with a raft of measures aimed at dealing further blows to Russia's oil and energy industry.

Its latest sanctions package on Russia will lower the G7's price cap for crude oil to $47.6 per barrel, diplomats told Reuters.

Russian forces take control of three Ukrainian villages across multiple regions, defence ministry says Jul 18, 2025 02:32AM

MOSCOW (Reuters) -Russian troops have taken control of three villages in three different parts of the frontline running through Ukraine, the Defence Ministry said on Thursday.

Official Ukrainian reports of activity along the 1,000-km (600-mile) front disputed part of the Russian account, particularly concerning a key village in the southeast.

Reuters could not independently verify battlefield reports from either side.

Reckitt to sell Essential Home business to Advent in $4.8 billion deal Jul 18, 2025 02:17AM

(Reuters) - Consumer goods firm Reckitt said on Friday that it has agreed to sell its Essential Home business, maker of Air Wick fresheners, to private equity firm Advent International in a deal valued at $4.8 billion including debt.

Reckitt said it would retain a 30% stake in the unit.
