US says most tomatoes imported from Mexico to face 21% duty from July 14 Apr 14, 2025 05:41PM

(Reuters) - The U.S. Commerce Department on Monday said most tomatoes imported from Mexico to the United States will face duties of 20.91% from July 14 as it withdraws from an agreement it said had failed to protect domestic tomato growers.

"This action will allow U.S. tomato growers to compete fairly in the marketplace," the department said in a release.

Russian court commits US citizen for mental treatment Apr 14, 2025 05:34PM

(Reuters) - A Russian court on Monday ruled a U.S. citizen not criminally responsible for his actions in connection with the assault of a police officer and committed him for treatment in a Russian hospital, the Moscow City Court Service said.

The service, in a statement posted on the Telegram messaging app, said Joseph Tater has been absolved of responsibility in connection with the incident. He had been in detention since last August.

IRS chief information officer announces resignation on eve of tax-filing day Apr 14, 2025 05:23PM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The chief information officer at the Internal Revenue Service said he would resign, according to an email sent to staff and seen by Reuters on Monday, the day before the April 15 tax-filing deadline for most U.S. taxpayers.
