SANAA (Reuters) - Yemen's Houthi group freed more than 100 detainees in Sanaa on Sunday, calling the move a "unilateral humanitarian initiative" to pardon prisoners and return them to their families.

(Reuters) - Britain's Conservative Party will introduce mandatory national service for 18-year-olds if it wins the national election on July 4, comprising military or community participation, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Sunday.

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Recent economic data strengthens the European Central Bank's confidence about lowering borrowing costs as inflation eases, ECB board member Piero Cipollone said on Sunday.
The ECB has all but promised to cut interest rates on June 6 but some analysts have started reducing their expectations for further reductions after stronger-than-expected wages data last week.

(Reuters) - A tornado in northern Texas has killed at least two people and left multiple injured, the New York Times reported on Sunday, citing Ray Sappington, the sheriff of Cooke County.
Towns in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas were hit by tornadoes on Saturday night, leaving trucks overturned, homes damaged and nearly 250,000 households without power, the report said.

PARIS (Reuters) - New Caledonia's international airport will remain closed until at least next Sunday, its operator said, nearly two weeks after rioting erupted on the French-ruled Pacific island over a contested electoral reform.
Seven people have died in the riots, in which cars and businesses have been torched and shops looted.
