US sanctions Nicaragua vice minister over alleged human rights abuses

April ‌18 (Reuters) - ​U.S. ​Secretary of ‌State Marco Rubio said ⁠on ‌Saturday that the ‌United States is imposing ​visa sanctions on ⁠Nicaragua's vice-minister of the ​interior, Luis Roberto Cañas Novoa, ​for ‌alleged involvement in human ⁠rights violations.

The sanctions ⁠render Cañas Novoa ​ineligible for entry into the United ‌States.
