US new home sales fall in April; prices rise from year ago May 23, 2024 10:36AM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Sales of new U.S. single-family homes fell more than expected in April amid a resurgence in mortgage rates and higher prices, further evidence that the housing market was losing momentum in the second quarter.

New home sales dropped 4.7% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 634,000 units last month, the Commerce Department's Census Bureau said on Thursday. The sales pace for March was revised lower to 665,000 units from the... (continue reading...)

Tesla drops reference to its goal of delivering 20 million vehicles annually in impact report May 23, 2024 10:35AM

(Reuters) -Tesla's latest impact report published on Thursday does not include its previously laid down target to deliver 20 million vehicles a year by 2030, another sign it was scaling back its ambitions as an automaker amid a pivot to robotaxis.

Concert fans and politicians for years have been calling for a... (continue reading...)

By Matteo Negri

ROME (Reuters) - Pope Francis has not done enough to stamp out clerical sex abuse and its cover-up, activists and abuse survivors said on Thursday, protesting before a Vatican-hosted World Children's Day festival.

The Roman Catholic Church has been shaken by sexual abuse scandals around the world. Francis has tried to impose order, but his critics say more should have been done to root out abusive clergy and help their... (continue reading...)
