US Homeland Security: one dead in Minneapolis shooting amid immigration surge

WASHINGTON, ⁠Jan 7 (Reuters) - ⁠One ‍person is dead ‍after ICE officers on ​a large-scale immigration ​operation in Minneapolis shot someone who the U.S. Department ​of Homeland Security said ​had "weaponized" their vehicle, according ‌to DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin.

"An ICE officer, ​fearing for ⁠his life, the lives ‌of his fellow law enforcement ‌and the safety of ‌the public, fired defensive shots," McLaughlin wrote in ‍a post on X.
