Dollar steady after soft US jobs report; yen starts week on back foot May 5, 2024 09:09PM

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - The dollar was broadly steady on Monday as a soft U.S. jobs report boosted wagers that the Federal Reserve may still cut rates twice this year, while the yen was a tad weaker to start the week.

N'DJAMENA (Reuters) - Chadians go to the polls on Monday three years after their military leader seized power, in the first presidential election in Africa's Sahel region since a wave of coups.

Blinken to travel to Guatemala on Tuesday, US State Dept says May 5, 2024 07:15PM

(Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Guatemala on Tuesday to lead a delegation to the a ministerial meeting of the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection, the State Department said on Sunday.

Blinken will meet with Guatemalan President Bernardo Arevalo and other leaders to discuss enforcement, migration management and refugee integration, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a statement.

Australia's Qantas agrees to $66 million penalty in flight cancellation case May 5, 2024 06:19PM

(Reuters) -Australian airline Qantas Airways said on Monday it had agreed to pay a penalty of A$100 million ($66 million) to settle a lawsuit that accused it of illegally selling thousands of tickets for flights that had already been cancelled.

The penalty is subject to the approval of the Federal Court of Australia, it said in a statement.
