WASHINGTON/DUBAI (Reuters) - The Biden administration and Saudi Arabia are finalizing an agreement for U.S. security guarantees and civilian nuclear assistance, even as an Israel-Saudi normalization deal envisioned as part of a Middle East “grand bargain” remains elusive, according to seven people familiar with the matter.

California boat captain gets prison term for fire deaths of 34 people May 2, 2024 05:38PM

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) -The captain of a dive boat that caught fire and sank off the California coast in 2019, killing 34 people in one of the state's deadliest maritime disasters, was sentenced on Thursday to four years in prison for his conviction on a federal charge of seaman's manslaughter.

DoJ seeks more details from U.S. Steel, Nippon Steel on proposed merger May 2, 2024 05:30PM

(Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Justice is seeking more details and documentary materials as part of an antitrust review of Nippon Steel's proposed $15 billion takeover of U.S. Steel, the American firm said on Thursday.

Commonly known as a "second request," it can mark the start of a lengthy legal process from which few mergers emerge successful.
