KYIV (Reuters) - Ukraine's parliament passed a bill on Wednesday that would allow some convicts to enlist in the army in return for a chance at parole, part of a push to generate fresh manpower for Kyiv's outnumbered and exhausted troops.

SAO PAULO (Reuters) - The death toll from heavy rains that swamped Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state in recent days has climbed to 100, local civil defense said on Wednesday, adding that 128 people were still missing.

(Reuters) - New York Community Bancorp was the cheapest U.S. bank stock among lenders with more than $3 billion in assets for the second straight month, an analysis by S&P Global Market Intelligence showed on Wednesday.
The evaluation based on adjusted tangible book value (TBV) showed that as of April 30, the troubled lender was trading at 30% of the metric that indicates the per-share value of its equity after excluding its intangible assets.

(Reuters) - A Russian air attack hit a school stadium in Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv on Wednesday, injuring at least four children and three adults, officials said.
Two teenagers were hospitalised in serious condition, regional governor Oleh Synehubov said on the Telegram messenger.
The prosecutor's general office added that the school and nearby residential buildings were damaged in the attack.
