BEIJING (Reuters) -Tesla will showcase its Cybercab at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai that runs November 5-10, marking the robotaxi's debut in Asia-Pacific, the automaker's Vice President Tao Lin said in a Weibo post on Thursday.
It remains unclear if Tesla has plans to roll out the Cybercab on Chinese roads.
Unveiled by Elon Musk in October last year, the autonomous vehicle was tentatively launched in Austin in June with invite-only access and human safety monitors onboard. It is scheduled for mass production starting next year.
The Cybercab Shanghai showcase will come even as Chinese companies such as Baidu and Pony AI have been conducting robotaxi trials in various cities in China for years.
