Sweden's Einride to deploy 75 electric trucks for Amazon's US freight network

April 21 (Reuters) - Swedish ‌trucking company ​Einride ​said on Tuesday it has partnered with Amazon.com to deploy 75 manually ‌operated electric heavy-duty trucks and supporting ⁠charging infrastructure across five U.S. locations for the e-commerce ‌giant's freight network.

Here are ‌the details:

• Einride's proprietary optimization software, Saga AI, will be used to manage electric ​vehicle execution for select Amazon loads, including charging planning.

• The financial terms of ⁠the partnership were not disclosed.

• The U.S. electric truck market ​has faced challenges due to high costs and a lack of heavy-duty charging ​infrastructure. Electric truck maker ‌Nikola, for instance, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2025.

• Amazon ⁠is working with operators such as Einride, which provide vehicles, charging infrastructure and fleet-management software, allowing ⁠the company to advance electrification efforts without directly owning ​and operating all assets.

• In February, Einride said it had raised around $113 million of private investment in ‌public equity.

• Einride is pursuing a public listing in the first ‌half of this year through its planned ⁠merger with blank-check firm ‌Legato Merger Corp ​III.
