Sweden's EQT to acquire majority stake in Switzerland's Acronis
(Reuters) -Swedish financial investor EQT said on Wednesday it will acquire a majority stake in Swiss cybersecurity and data protection company Acronis.
The company said in a statement it will buy the stake through a private equity fund, by buying shares from other investors such as CVC, Springcoast Capital Partners and BlackRock.
They will all remain shareholders, EQT partner Johannes Reichel told Reuters on Wednesday.
EQT said Acronis' valuation had increased since a 2022 financing round, in which it stood at $3.5 billion. According to sources, the valuation has risen 10-15%, to around $4 billion.
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is anticipated to complete in the first half of 2025.
