(Reuters) - Spain's European Union-harmonised 12-month inflation fell to 2.9% in July, from 3.6% in the period through June, final data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE) showed on Tuesday.

The 12-month European Union-harmonised inflation confirmed both the flash estimate and the estimate by analysts polled by Reuters at 2.9%.

Core inflation, which strips out volatile fresh food and energy prices, was 2.8% in the 12-months through July, down from 3% in the 12-month through June, INE said.

Spain's national consumer prices fell 2.8% year-on-year in July, from 3.4% in June.

The final reading confirmed both the flash estimate released by INE two weeks ago and the estimate by analysts polled by Reuters.
