MADRID (Reuters) -The Spanish government raised its 2025 gross domestic product growth forecast to 2.6% from a previous 2.4%, Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo has said.

Cuerpo gave the revised figure in media interviews, telling radio station RNE on Monday that despite global geopolitical risks, Spain would lead the euro zone's largest economies this year.

Spain's GDP expanded a higher than expected 3.2% in 2024, data showed last week.

Cuerpo said Spanish growth accounted for almost 50% of the 20-country bloc's growth in 2024.

In contrast to Spain, France expects 0.9% growth and Germany 0.3% this year.
