Senators propose legislation to tighten US ban on Chinese vehicles

WASHINGTON, April ‌29 (Reuters) - ​Two ​U.S. senators on Wednesday introduced ‌legislation to toughen a ⁠U.S. government ban on ‌Chinese automakers from ‌entering the American market, weeks before ​President Donald Trump heads to China ⁠for talks.

Republican Senator Bernie Moreno ​of Ohio and Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin of ​Michigan proposed ‌legislation to codify a regulation ⁠imposed by the Biden administration that effectively ⁠bans all Chinese automakers from ​selling passenger vehicles in the U.S. and take ‌other steps to prevent China from ‌entering the U.S. ⁠light ‌duty market.
