Rivian recalls about 100,700 vehicles over rearview camera display issue

Sept 23 (Reuters) - ‌Electric vehicle ​maker ​Rivian Automotive said on Wednesday it is recalling about 100,700 ‌vehicles, representing a majority of its ⁠vehicles produced to date, over a ‌software issue that can ‌obstruct the rearview camera display.

Here are some more details:

• The recall covers ​certain 2022-2026 R1T pickup trucks, 2022-2027 R1S SUVs and 2027 ⁠R2 models, Rivian said. The issue is a non-compliance matter ​involving US and Canadian rear-visibility safety standards.

• In an emailed statement, ​the EV maker ‌told Reuters that, in rare instances when stability control is ⁠off, "a safety prompt asking to re-enable stability control may overlap the rearview ⁠camera view when shifting into reverse until the ​vehicle moves."

• More than 95% of the affected vehicles have already received a software ‌fix, the company said, adding that all vehicles produced after ‌August 10 already include the ⁠updated software.
