RTX's Collins Aerospace to expand Iowa plant that makes engine components

Sept 29 (Reuters) - RTX said on Tuesday that its aerospace and defense systems unit, Collins Aerospace, will expand its aircraft engine components facility in West Des Moines, Iowa, by 14,000 square feet to increase manufacturing capacity.
• RTX said it would make a multi-million-dollar investment in the plant to meet rising customer demand. It did not disclose the exact figure
• The West Des Moines facility produces fuel distribution systems and engine nozzle components for commercial and military aircraft. It ships more than 25,000 engine nozzles a month
• The site employs about 300 full-time workers. The company plans to add more jobs by the end of the year and continue hiring into 2027
• Construction is scheduled to begin later this month and completion is expected by the middle of next year
• Collins Aerospace completed a $14 million, 9,000-square-foot expansion of another West Des Moines facility in 2023 to increase manufacturing capacity with metal 3D printers
• The Arlington, Virginia-based RTX makes aircraft engines, missile systems and air-defense technologies for commercial and military customers
