Panama's Copa Airlines to buy 60 Boeing 737 Max jets

PANAMA CITY, April 28 (Reuters) - Copa Airlines tied up an agreement with Boeing and GE Aerospace to purchase up to 60 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for a list price of around $13.5 billion, the Panamanian carrier said on Monday.
The order, combined with 40 aircraft pending delivery from an existing agreement, will allow Copa to add more than 100 new planes over the next eight years and reach a fleet of over 200 aircraft by 2034.
DEAL DETAILS
• Aircraft deliveries are scheduled between 2030 and 2034, subject to schedule changes.
• Copa can select between 737 MAX 8, MAX 9 and MAX 10 variants based on operational requirements, it said.
• The planes can be used for fleet growth or to replace existing aircraft.
BY THE NUMBERS
• The carrier expects to transport 20.9 million passengers in 2026, growing to over 27 million by decade's end.
• Each new aircraft generates 60-70 direct jobs, the airline said, projecting more than 2,100 new positions in Panama over four years.
