GENEVA (Reuters) -More than 170 non-governmental organisations called on Tuesday for a U.S.- and Israeli-backed food aid distribution scheme in Gaza to be dismantled over concerns it is putting civilians at risk of death and injury.

Algerian court upholds five-year jail term for French-Algerian writer Jul 1, 2025 07:39AM

TUNIS (Reuters) -An Algerian court upheld on Tuesday a five-year prison sentence being served by French-Algerian writer Boualem Sansal for undermining national unity, Ennahar TV said, prompting a call for clemency by France.

Angolans, Cape Verdeans want Portugal to return looted artefacts, poll shows Jul 1, 2025 07:33AM

(Reuters) -A majority of respondents in Angola and Cape Verde believe Portugal should apologise for its colonial past and return artefacts and other items looted during that era, according to a survey released on Tuesday.

Turkey says PKK disarmament could start 'within days', says AK Party spokesman Jul 1, 2025 07:28AM

ANKARA (Reuters) -The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) could start handing over its weapons "within days", a spokesman for Turkey's ruling AK Party said on Tuesday, the clearest sign yet that efforts to secure the outlawed group's disarmament may be nearing a breakthrough.

Three dead, 35 injured in Ukrainian strike on factory in Russia's Izhevsk, governor says Jul 1, 2025 07:28AM

MOSCOW (Reuters) -Three people were killed and 35 others injured in a Ukrainian drone strike on a factory in the Russian city of Izhevsk, regional governor Alexander Brechalov on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.
