CAIRO/GAZA (Reuters) - As Israeli forces mass on the outskirts of the southern Gaza city of Rafah, Palestinians fear another "Nakba", when 700,000 of them were permanently driven from their homes at the creation of Israel in 1948.

Passenger plane's tire bursts on landing in Turkey; no casualties May 9, 2024 09:05AM

ANKARA (Reuters) - A Corendon Airlines Boeing 737 plane's front tire burst upon landing at an airport in southern Turkey on Thursday, the Turkish transport minister said, adding there were no casualties and all 190 passengers and crew were evacuated.

The front landing gear strut was damaged on the Corendon Airlines plane, arriving from Cologne, Germany, as it landed at Alanya-Gazipasa airport in Antalya, Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said.

25 US states challenge EPA power plant emissions rule in court May 9, 2024 08:51AM

(Reuters) -A group of 25 Republican state attorneys general sued the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday seeking to block a landmark rule requiring sweeping reductions in carbon emissions from existing coal-fired power plants and new natural gas plants, major contributors to climate change.

Abortion rights activists heckle Italy's family minister at conference May 9, 2024 08:50AM

ROME (Reuters) - Protesters on Thursday heckled Italy's family minister over her critical position on abortion rights, forcing her to abandon a speech at a conference on reversing the country's declining birth rate.

When Eugenia Roccella -- a member of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's Brothers of Italy party -- took the floor, activists booed and raised letters forming the sentence "I decide over my body."
