Maine's Democratic Party calls for Platner to drop out of race

WASHINGTON, July ‌6 (Reuters) - ​Maine's ​Democratic Party on Monday ‌called for the Graham ⁠Platner, its nominee for ‌a U.S. Senate ‌seat in the state, to withdraw ​his candidacy after a woman accused ⁠him of sexual assault.

"Over the ​past several weeks, multiple women have made ​serious, credible ‌allegations against Graham Platner. Today's ⁠statements take those allegations even further," ⁠it said in a statement.

"Maine ​Democratic Party leadership is calling on Graham Platner ‌to withdraw as the Democratic nominee ‌for U.S. ⁠Senate.'
