Landslide kills 6 bus passengers in central Vietnam
HANOI (Reuters) -At least six people were killed in central Vietnam when a bus carrying them was hit by a landslide on Sunday evening, state media reported on Monday, as heavy rain pounded the area.
The bus carrying 32 people was en route from Da Lat to Nha Trang when the incident happened, online newspaper VnExpress reported.
The landslide on Khanh Le Pass, triggered by heavy rain, also left 19 other passengers injured, the report said.
Two passengers remained trapped in the bus, which is partly buried in mud and rocks, according to the report. It added that authorities were at the site trying to rescue them.
A photo accompanying the report showed a section of the road was fully covered in soil and huge rocks.
In nearby Danang, three other people were missing in another landslide that happened on Friday, according to VnExpress.
