Kenya's inflation rises slightly in September on food, transport

NAIROBI (Reuters) -Kenya's inflation rose slightly to 4.6% year-on-year in September, up from 4.5% the previous month, the statistics office said on Tuesday.
The increase was chiefly driven by a rise in prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks, transport, and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics said in a report.
Month-on-month inflation was at 0.2% in September, it said.
The central bank targets year-on-year inflation of between 2.5% and 7.5%.
In August, the bank cut its benchmark lending rate by 25 basis points, saying there was room to ease monetary policy further as inflation was well within its target.
