Coach carrying German high-school students crashes in Netherlands

AMSTERDAM, Aug ‌24 (Reuters) - A ​coach ​carrying high-school students from Germany crashed in ‌the east of the Netherlands early ⁠on Monday, injuring eight people, ‌who were taken to ‌hospital, Dutch police said.

"Some of the victims taken to ​the hospital are seriously injured," the police department of ⁠Gelderland province said in a post on ​X. Other people suffered minor injuries in the accident.

The coach, ​which carried more ‌than 50 people, according to a police spokesperson, ⁠crashed near the town of Wezep, some 100 km (62 miles) ⁠east of Amsterdam around 4 a.m. (0200 ​GMT) due to a collision with a delivery van, whose driver was ‌among the injured victims.

The A28 highway was closed in ‌both directions following the ⁠accident.
