IMAX says CEO taking medical leave

March 30 (Reuters) - ‌IMAX said ​on ​Monday that CEO Richard Gelfond, who is ‌being treated for pneumonia, was ⁠taking a temporary medical leave.

The ‌cinema operator's daily ‌operations will be managed by senior executives in coordination with ​Chairman Darren Throop, it said.

"We have a strong, deeply ⁠experienced senior executive team who are ​fully engaged, providing regular updates to the board, and ​remain focused as ‌always on the continued growth and success of ⁠IMAX," Throop said in a statement.

Gelfond will not participate ⁠in IMAX's upcoming events, including industry ​conferences slated for next week, during his leave, the company said.

IMAX reported fourth-quarter ‌revenue of $125.2 million in February, ahead of analysts' estimate ‌of $120.7 million, according to ⁠data compiled by ‌LSEG.
