NEW DELHI (Reuters) - A blast was heard in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore on Thursday morning, according to broadcaster Geo TV and a Reuters witness, a day after Indian strikes at multiple locations in the country strengthened fears about an escalation of military conflict between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

SYDNEY(Reuters) - Shares in Asia firmed on Thursday after U.S. President Donald Trump flagged a first trade deal in his global tariff war, while the dollar tried to hold overnight gains as markets pushed out the chance of near-term rate cuts.
S&P 500 futures erased earlier losses to be up 0.5% while Nasdaq futures rose 0.7%. The pan-European STOXX 600 index climbed 0.7% and FTSE futures gained 0.5%.

(Reuters) -Australia's ANZ Group reported largely flat first-half cash earnings on Thursday as competition pressured margins and a rise in impairments offset lending growth, while flagging that market activity is likely to realign due to global trade risks.

The legislation, which opposition figures had said was aimed at sidelining former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner from future national races, was backed by 36 senators, while 35 voted against.
It fell short of the 37 votes required to become law.
