CARACAS (Reuters) - The Venezuelan government is aiming to make up for the return of U.S. oil sanctions by raising tax revenues so it can increase spending on public workers and secure their support in July's elections, public and private sector sources said.

Orangutan's use of medicinal plant to treat wound intrigues scientists May 2, 2024 11:04AM

(Reuters) - In June 2022, a male Sumatran orangutan named Rakus sustained a facial wound below the right eye, apparently during a fight with another male orangutan at the Suaq Balimbing research site, a protected rainforest area in Indonesia. What Rakus did three days later really caught the attention of scientists.

Apple to extend new core technology fee to iPadOS apps May 2, 2024 11:04AM

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Apple will extend a newly introduced core technology fee to iPadOS apps downloaded on its App Store after the operating system for iPads was added to a list of key services subject to EU tech rules, the iPhone maker said on Thursday.

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Union will extend subsidy allowances by six months until the end of 2024 to support the region's agricultural sector following protests from farmers seeking better pay and working conditions.
