German retail sales rise unexpectedly in May

June 30 (Reuters) - German retail sales unexpectedly rose in May, increasing by 1.1% compared with the previous month, data showed on Tuesday.
Analysts polled by Reuters had predicted retail sales to remain unchanged.
The federal statistics office publishes more details on its website.
