Fire extinguished at Sims' Redwood City metal recycling plant in California
(Reuters) -A large fire that broke out at Sims' metal recycling facility in Redwood City, California on Wednesday has been extinguished, the company said.
"At approximately 2:55 p.m. (Pacific time), we experienced a fire... Our team worked alongside the Redwood City Fire Department and the fire was extinguished just after 5.30 p.m.," the company said in an emailed statement to Reuters.
It added that there were no injuries or damage to property due to the incident.
The fire broke out in a metal scrap pile that was set to be shredded, local media reported.
"Those who are sensitive to smoke should remain indoors if possible," the Santa Clara County fire department said in a post on X.
