UK tells parents to quiz their children about toxic online content Feb 9, 2026 07:09PM

LONDON, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Britain ⁠on Tuesday encouraged ⁠parents ‍to speak to their children about the harmful content they could encounter online as the government looks into the ‍pros and cons of an Australian-style ban on social media ​for under 16s.

Amazon discusses AI content marketplace with publishers, The Information reports Feb 9, 2026 07:09PM

Feb 9 (Reuters) - Amazon ⁠has signaled ⁠to ‍publishing industry executives that it is planning to launch a marketplace ‍where publishers can sell their content ​to firms offering artificial intelligence products, The Information ​reported on Monday.

Ahead of an Amazon Web Services conference on Tuesday, AWS has circulated slides that mention a ​content marketplace, the report said, citing two people who spoke with Amazon ​about the project.

UK retailers report strong start to 2026 Feb 9, 2026 07:06PM

Feb 10 (Reuters) - ⁠British retailers ⁠reported ‍a bright start to 2026, marked by strong food ‍sales and more in-store activity in ​January, the British Retail Consortium trade body ​said on Tuesday.

The survey added to tentative signs of an improvement in consumer sentiment after ​British finance minister Rachel Reeves' budget in November. Official data ​published on January 23 showed an unexpectedly strong ‌increase in retail sales during December.

UK chipmaker Fractile plans $136 million boost for AI chip production Feb 9, 2026 07:05PM

LONDON, Feb 10 (Reuters) - ⁠Britain said ⁠on ‍Tuesday that homegrown chipmaker Fractile will invest 100 million pounds ($136.43 ‍million) in its UK operations over the ​next three years, including a new hardware engineering ​facility to support the scale-up of its AI chip production.

US plans Big Tech carve-out from next chip tariffs, FT reports Feb 9, 2026 07:04PM

Feb 9 (Reuters) - ⁠U.S. ⁠President ‍Donald Trump's administration plans to spare ‍firms such as Amazon, Google ​and Microsoft from upcoming tariffs ​on chips as they build AI data centers, the Financial Times ​reported on Monday, citing people familiar with ​the matter.

The carve-outs would be provided by ‌the Commerce Department and tied to investment commitments ​made by the ⁠Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, the report ‌added.
