Four people injured in fire at coal processing plant in Russia's Far East, officials say May 6, 2025 10:51PM

(Reuters) - Four people were injured in a fire at a coal processing plant in far northeastern Russia, Russian officials and the Mechel mining company said early on Wednesday.

Mechel said in a statement that personnel were evacuated from the coal processing plant located in Neryungri in the Republic of Sakha, also known as Yakutia, after a methane fire occurred in a finished goods warehouse.

Dollar languishes ahead of Fed meeting, Asian currencies calmer May 6, 2025 10:43PM

TOKYO (Reuters) -The dollar steadied on Wednesday before a Federal Reserve meeting to determine policy for an uncertain economy and as major investors in Asia continued cashing out of U.S. assets.

Asian airlines re-route, cancel flights due to India-Pakistan fighting May 6, 2025 10:42PM

TAIPEI (Reuters) - Some Asian airlines on Wednesday said they were re-routing or cancelling flights to and from Europe because of fighting between India and Pakistan.

India attacked Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir and Pakistan said it had shot down five Indian fighter jets in the worst fighting in more than two decades between the nuclear-armed enemies.

China to expand scheme allowing insurers to invest in stock market May 6, 2025 10:21PM

BEIJING (Reuters) -China will expand a pilot scheme allowing insurance companies to invest in stock markets, the head of the financial regulator said on Wednesday.

The country will approve the investment of an additional 60 billion yuan ($8.31 billion) from long-term insurance funds in the stock market, Li Yunze, head of the National Financial Regulatory Administration, told a news briefing.
