Euro zone consumer confidence rises to -19.0 in May

May ‌21 (Reuters) - Euro ​zone ​consumer confidence rose ‌by 1.6 points ⁠in May from ‌the April number, ‌figures released on Thursday showed.

The ​European Commission said a ⁠flash estimate showed euro ​zone consumer morale increased to -19.0 this ​month from -20.6 ‌in April.

Economists polled by ⁠Reuters had expected a fall ⁠to -20.8.

In the European Union ​as a whole, consumer sentiment rose by ‌1.7 points to -18.2.
