Euro zone consumer confidence rises to -19.0 in May

May 21 (Reuters) - Euro zone consumer confidence rose by 1.6 points in May from the April number, figures released on Thursday showed.
The European Commission said a flash estimate showed euro zone consumer morale increased to -19.0 this month from -20.6 in April.
Economists polled by Reuters had expected a fall to -20.8.
In the European Union as a whole, consumer sentiment rose by 1.7 points to -18.2.
