Azerbaijan's Aliyev plans a large-scale prisoner amnesty, Azertac reports

BAKU, ⁠Dec 15 (Reuters) - ⁠President ‍Ilham Aliyev ‍of Azerbaijan has proposed ​what could ​be the biggest prisoner amnesty in his country's ​history to mark ​the "year of the constitution ‌and sovereignty," the state Azertac news ​agency reported ⁠on Monday.

It said the ‌amnesty could affect around ‌20,000 people. Some ‌would be released from prison, while others ‍would have their sentences ⁠reduced, Azertac said.
