NEW YORK (Reuters) - The U.S. economy is expanding at a 4.0 percent annualized rate in the second quarter in the wake of the latest data on domestic vehicle sales, trade balance and factory orders, the Atlanta Federal Reserve's GDPNow forecast model showed on Thursday.

The latest estimate on gross domestic product growth was a tad lower than the 4.0 percent pace calculated on Tuesday, the Atlanta Fed said.
