At least 14 dead after mine collapse in southern Venezuela
CARACAS (Reuters) -At least 14 people were killed after a gold mine collapsed in El Callao municipality in southern Venezuela following heavy rains in the area, emergency officials said on Monday.
The National Risk System teams said recovery efforts were underway, with the bodies found in three separate shafts.
"The first phase of the works is to pump out all the shafts in the sector to reduce the water level, and then evaluate rescue efforts", emergency officials said in a post on social media.
