Archer-Daniels-Midland reported explosion at its Decatur facility (July 29)
(This July 29 story has been corrected to say that the facility is in Illinois, not Georgia, in paragraph 1)
(Reuters) - Global grains trader Archer-Daniels-Midland reported an explosion at its processing facility in Decatur, Illinois on Sunday, which resulted in some structural damage to an elevator.
Colleagues began investigating a potential smoldering event at the elevator and surrounding operations were shut down and evacuated, the company said, adding that no injuries were reported due to the incident.
"We are currently monitoring the situation with support from the Decatur fire department, assessing the damage and investigating the cause," the Chicago-based firm said in a statement.
