Alsea lowers 2026 earnings growth forecast on weak spending, currency headwinds

MEXICO CITY, ‌July 20 (Reuters) - ​Mexican ​restaurant and cafe chain operator Alsea cut its ‌2026 earnings growth forecast on ⁠Monday, citing weak consumer spending and ‌currency headwinds, as the ‌Mexican restaurant chain operator reported a 53% drop in second-quarter ​net profit.

The company, which operates Domino's Pizza and Starbucks ⁠outlets in Europe and Latin America, trimmed ​its full-year EBITDA growth outlook to low-single digits from mid-single ​digits.

• Alsea posted ‌a second-quarter net profit of 531.5 million pesos ($30.37 ⁠million).

• Second-quarter revenues of 21.09 billion pesos ($1.205 billion) in the April-to-June ⁠period.

• Consumer spending was particularly weak in ​April, the company said.

• Alsea had budgeted an exchange rate of 19.3 ‌pesos per U.S. dollar and 22.7 pesos per euro; ‌peso strength versus those ⁠levels reduced reported ‌revenues.
